Fall Is a Great Time for Shrub Removal and Landscape Cleanup in Meridian-Kessler
Fall is an excellent time to take a fresh look at your landscape beds and decide what needs to go before spring arrives.
Recently, Big Boy Services completed a shrub removal project in Meridian-Kessler on the north side of Indianapolis. The project included removing boxwoods and other decorative vegetation from several areas around the property.
The project was actually a last-minute schedule change.
When One Job Gets Rescheduled, Another Moves Up
Our first job that morning was a limb-cutting project for a Carmel HOA. We were scheduled to cut back and limb up branches along the community pathways.
When we arrived, we found that the turf was too soft to safely bring our truck and trailer onto the property. Because we didn’t want to risk damaging the turf, we contacted the property manager and rescheduled the project for a better day.
We then contacted another customer whose shrub removal project was scheduled for the following week.
The customer was located in Meridian-Kessler and agreed to let us move the project up. We headed to the north side of Indianapolis and completed the shrub removal that morning.
It was a good example of why flexibility matters in outdoor work. Ground conditions can change quickly, and sometimes postponing a project is the right decision for protecting the property.
Boxwood and Decorative Vegetation Removal
The Meridian-Kessler project involved removing boxwoods and other decorative vegetation from three different landscape areas.
The accompanying before-and-after photos show the difference once the unwanted vegetation was removed.
This type of landscape removal can be useful when a landscape bed has become overgrown, when a homeowner wants to change the design, or when an existing landscape is being completely renovated.
Removing the old vegetation gives the next contractor a clean area to work with.

One thing homeowners may not realize is that landscape installation and landscape removal don’t always have to be performed by the same company.
In this case, Big Boy Services is handling the shrub and vegetation removal, while another landscape company will come in afterward to install the replacement plants.
This is actually a common type of project for us.
Established landscape companies sometimes refer us to their customers when they need someone to handle the tear-out portion of a project. We remove the existing shrubs, decorative vegetation and other unwanted growth so their installation crew can come in and complete the new landscape.
For homeowners, this can make the process easier because each contractor can focus on the portion of the project they specialize in.
